What it does.

  1. One record per contractor.

    Record each contractor's name, company, trade, contact details and insurance expiry date. The directory is shared across all your buildings.

    • Insurance expiry, with a warning in the last 30 days
    • Status: active, inactive or suspended
    • Trade and contact details
    • Only active contractors can be chosen for a permit

  2. Seven permit types.

    Hot works, confined space, electrical, roof work, excavation, asbestos and general. Each permit records the location, hazards, precautions, PPE and dates.

    • Draft, pending approval, approved, active, completed
    • Hazards, precautions and PPE on every permit
    • Linked to the contractor doing the work
    • Approver and approval time recorded

  3. Closed with evidence.

    A permit cannot be completed without evidence and a closing note, so the record shows how the work was finished.

Questions.

Can SAMRISK block work for contractors with expired insurance?

Not automatically. Expired insurance shows in red in the directory. Set a contractor to suspended or inactive and they can no longer be chosen for a permit.

Are permits digitally signed?

The approver and the approval time are recorded. SAMRISK does not apply cryptographic signatures.

Can contractors log in to SAMRISK?

Only if you add them as users in your company. There is no separate contractor portal.

Do you check Gas Safe, NICEIC and other schemes?

No. SAMRISK records each contractor's insurance expiry, but it does not check scheme registers, so confirm membership with the scheme.

How are insurance expiries flagged?

The contractor record shows the days left once expiry is within 30 days, and turns red once it has passed.
